How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
How do you think we are shaping up as things stand?

I personally think we are short of 4 quality players and we need to bring this number in. Hopefully Austin, Mirallas, Lanzini and Song or Rabiot.

Putting aside injuries, this is where I see each of our current players for this coming Premier League campaign:-

Current Squad
• Adrian – GK
• Carl Jenkinson – RB
• Angelo Ogbonna - CB
• Winston Reid (c) - CB
• Aaron Cresswell - LB
• Cheikhou Kouyate - CM
• Pedro Obiang - CM
• Dimitri Payet - AMC
• Enner Valencia – AML
(Another player needed)
• Diafra Sakho – CF

• Darren Randolph – On the bench
• James Tomkins – On the bench
• Mark Noble – On the bench
• Andy Carroll – On the bench
(So at least 3 more players needed)

• Raphael Spiegel – Squad Player
• James Collins – Squad Player
• Stephen Hendrie – Squad Player
• Leo Chambers – Squad Player
• Diego Poyet – Squad Player
• Martin Samuelson – Squad Player
• Elliot Lee – Squad Player

• Reece Burke – To be sent out on loan
• Doneil Henry – To be sent out on loan

• Kevin Nolan – To be sold
• Joey O'Brien – To be sold
• Morgan Amalfitano – To be sold
• Matt Jarvis – To be sold
• Modibo Maiga – To be sold/loaned/released
• Mauro Zarate – To be sold

Collins, Poyet and Amalfitano will all play a part at least on the bench.

I think the squad's fine on the whole. What Bilic is possibly short of is the time to adapt the players to a way of playing. It was always going to be challenging to change from the previous manager.

A? You name squad players but you won't have them on the bench?

Because I think we need better players to come in ahead of the ones I have listed as 'Squad Players'.

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
Unconvincing in terms of having a match winner.

Sakho at times, maybe Payet, and I'm struggling after that.

Decent defence and goalkeeper, and a poor midfield.

Mid to lower half again, I think.

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
As has been said we are seriously lacking in depth throughout

Happy enough with GK situation & central defence

RB ~ possibly the biggest hole that needs filling. We have Jenkinson with JOB as the only cover, which is a very obvious weakness

MF~ I really hope we get Song back (even if we have to wait for him to recover from his almost certain op) If we get Lanzini too I think that should just about be enough to cover midfield

Up front ~ With Carroll permanently injured that leaves Sakho, Valencia & Lee which leaves us very lightweight for a long full season, when you consider possible injuries, suspensions & dips in form. Hope we get Austin as I feel he would single-handedly make a massive difference to our season

There is a lot of deadwood to unload too, as has been mentioned. I would keep JOB, Zarate & Morgan

"Morgan Amalfitano – To be sold"

Just signed a new contract hasn't he?

Our first team squad falls short in every department

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
Your squad is illegal by PL and UEFA rules as you only have 7 homegrown overage players in it.

You'd need to sign at least 2 more homegrown players to be on the safe side. Or promote 2 homegrown U21's into your squad lists i.e Burke, Poyet or Lee

Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
I'm still to be convinced by Randolph. I've seen him in two games and he is not inspiring as a player that could have to play a lot of senior games....

Signing a new contract doesn't mean anything.
In my opinion he isn't good enough, so I'd sell him.

Short of what exactly?

Serious question for everyone. Who are we measuring ourselves against at this point?

Hugh Monteith 2:09 Fri Jul 17
Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
Firstly we should never describe players primary role as being "on the bench" and squad players.

All of our first team squad should primarily be considered as first team players.

This way we start off with an appropriate consideration of each player

Hugh Monteith 2:14 Fri Jul 17
Re: How do you view our enitre squad as things stand?
Short of the appropriate abilities required to meet the teams needs for a variety of skills that is necessary to strengthen the squad.
